NWSS welcomes our new principal Mr. Murray McLeod

Dear NWSS Parent,

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to introduce myself to you as the new Principal of New Westminster Secondary. I have spent the past two weeks settling in, meeting staff and students. I look forward to working with the students and sustaining the outstanding educational program here at NWSS!

I come to NWSS with 23 years of educational experience from the Surrey School District, 11 years as a teacher and 12 as a Vice-Principal. During this time, I have worked at eight different secondary schools, each with its own unique culture and community. No matter what role I take in the education realm, my work and passion will always remain focused on the students, fostering well-balanced educational opportunities that ensures student growth, preparing them for life after high school. As your Principal, I am committed to the vision of a student-centred community that focuses on the district’s core belief – ‘Together, we are a caring, inclusive and committed learning community dedicated to supporting each of our unique learners so they will have the skills and competencies they need to be productive and successful citizens in a rapidly changing world’.

Over the next few months and year, we will be experiencing incredible change moving our school to the new, state of the art building being built next door. This is an exciting time for our students, staff and the New Westminster community. I am committed, along with the entire NWSS staff, to making this transition smooth and comfortable for our students.
Thank you for the warm welcome I have experienced thus far, and I look forward to getting to know you and your children. I will be attending the next PAC meeting scheduled for 7 pm on Thursday, May 23rd in the NWSS library. Please stop by and say hello!

Warm regards,

Murray McLeod
Principal
